Graduated Seton Hall University in the 70's with a Master of Science degree in organic chemistry. It had been a lifelong dream of mine to be a chemist since I was 8 years old and experimenting in the basement with my Lionel Porter Chemcraft chemistry set. After graduation from Seton Hall I began my first career as a research chemist for a major flavor and fragrance company creating novel chemical compounds and developing and optimizing processes to manufacture these chemicals on an industrial scale.
When the first IBM PCs and IBM PC XTs were introduced in 1981 and 1983 respectively, we decided to purchase one for the department. As a result of my interest in molecular modelling and the promise of computers in general, I was given the task of putting these computers to good use and applying them to needs of the department.
